About Darren

Darren Scott Drake
November 1984 - October 2017

Darren was a 32 year old young man who embraced life in everything he did, whether it be in his profession as a Project Manager for Moodys Analytics or his interest in bicycling.  He was a person who would always be there to lend a hand to help you if he could, with a positive attitude and a beaming smile: an all-around good human being.

Before taking up bicycling, he would love to walk - for years, people in our town would watch him pass their house, and with occasional dialogue, a friendly smile, or a wave, he touched more lives than we ever knew. He was a person who would seek out connections with new friends just to keep in touch with them, and he held a genuine interest in each and every person he met.

He was a person who loved education.  After spending his undergraduate years at Rutgers University, he went on to get his Masters in Business Administration at Fairleigh Dickinson University, and was pursuing his second Masters at Stevens University for Information Management.

While Darren was well educated, he was equally modest and humble, and he would never let you think that you and he were anything but equals.  He often spoke about the importance of future generations of skilled tradespeople, and underscored the need for scholarships for high school graduates who would prefer going to a trade school rather than college.

His life was tragically cut short by a senseless act of violence, but the baton has been passed along to us: Darren's Helping Hands.  Our purpose through this Foundation is to continue his dream of providing educational opportunities for high school graduates that opt to pursue studies at trade schools.

We hope that you will join us in helping fulfill his dream.
